“Due to popular demand Kiela will now be running another Zumba Class at 7pm on Thursdays, starting this week.

This now gives us 21 classes a week, ranging from MMA, Boxing, Spin, Conditioning, Zumba, Yoga and Circuits. Check out Class Timetable on the website for more details!”

We will be holding a Russian Martial Arts Seminar at the club on Saturday December 10th from 12pm – 2pm. Details below, and drop me a mail if you want to book in.

Russian all-Round Fighting:
A mixture of ancient folk styles of striking/wrestling and weapons has been updated and used across Russia by Sportsmen and Special Forces alike. This has been brought to the UK by Darrin Richardson, Darrin holds Master of Sport in Russian Sambo wrestling, along with only one other non Russian to hold the rank of Master of Sport.
Darrin will be hosting this Seminar and will include an overview of the following techniques:
Russian Fist Fighting
Russian Kick Fighting
Russian Hand to Hand Combat
An overview of Storm Fighting
Russian Weapons Training

Congratulations to the South Moreton Martial Arts team, who scored four victories out of four fights at the Back in the Cage show at Andover Leisure Centre on Saturday 19th November.

All bouts were 3 x 4 minute rounds under Semi-Pro MMA rules and results were (from left to right in photo): Erik Gervald (Won Pts), Ethan Charlesworth (Won Pts), Chris Smith (Won, Submission Rd2), Rob Dennison (Won Pts). All the guys were talking part in their debut fights, apart from Erik, who now has three wins from his three fights. Standing behind the guys is Roman Ship, Head MMA Coach at South Moreton Boxing Club.

This Saturday (9th July) we have Vladimir Frolushkin visiting us to give a self defence seminar. Vladimir is an old tutor of Roman’s and has over 20 years experience as a Special Forces Instructor in Russia and around the world. He is highly respected in his field, and presently trains the Latvian Special Forces in Self defence without weapons.

The Seminar will run from 12pm – 4pm and will comprise instruction on disarming and takedown of opponents. it is a £25 cost with a maximum of 10 spaces on the course. We have a couple of spaces left, if anyone is interested, drop me a line.

Julius Francis will be at the club for a Training Day on Saturday 2nd July from 9am to 5pm. For anyone not familiar with Julius, he has been British, Commonwealth and European Heavyweight Champion, fought Mike Tyson in 2000 and has fought five World Heavyweight Champions, including present WBC Champion Vitali Klitschko, in a long career.

Julius will be available to book for a 30 minute 1-2-1 session from 9am – 3pm (usual cost of £25), and he will then be supervising Sparring Club. If you want to book in for a session just drop me a mail.

As many of you will know, work on our new building is progressing at a pace, and we are going to have an open day at the club to celebrate on Saturday 4th June.

The new building will give us enhanced shower and changing facilities, as well as a Sauna and Treatment Room and will enable us to offer a much wider range of services. To reflect this the new building will be called South Moreton Fitness Club. For more details of the services and facilities please look at www.southmoretonfitnessclub.com

The Open Day will run from 10am – 4pm and we will be holding the day in conjunction with South Moreton School to raise them some much needed funds. We will have Sparring, Padwork and MMA demonstrations, some famous faces from the Boxing World as well as a Barbecue and other stalls. There will also be plenty of activities for the kids with pony rides, bouncy castle and face-painting. As well as a chance to check out the new facilities there will be opportunities to try hot-stone massage, postural assessments and fitness tests.

It would be great to see all members, past and present, to mark this stage of the club’s development, and thanks to everyone for your support over the years.

Congratulations to Viktor Kmec and Erik Gevald from the club. Both won their Semi-Pro Cage Fight debuts at a great Back Into The Cage show in Andover, Viktor with a first round Submission and Erik on Unanimous Points.
