Rumble VIII Thanks and Planning Permission…
I’m pleased to announce that the final donation we were able to make to The Rifles Care for Casualties appeal from Rumble VIII was £7,012. This brings to £16,173 the total donations from the club this year to this fantastic cause (see careforcasualties.org.uk). Attached is a picture of me handing the cheque over to Lt Col. Simon Hill of The Rifles. Thanks so much for all the support given to the club and the Rumbles this year to help us achieve this.
I’m also pleased to announce we have received planning permission to start our proposed 2,000 sq ft extension planned for the new year, so many more facities and classes coming in 2011! Thanks again for all support and interest shown in the club, it really is very much appreciated.
Looking forward to a busy 2011!

David Haye V Audley Harrison at The Bear…
Saturday 13th of November see’s the much anticipated clash for the WBA Heavyweight Title between David Haye and Audley Harrison. Much has been written about this forthcoming fight, and the initial long-odds on a Harrison victory have been tumbling recently, as the big man talks a great fight. Haye will have to get past Harrison to move onto his anticipated showdown with the Klitschko brothers, but will the wheels come off as Audley fulfills his “Destiny”?
The fight is taking place at the MEN Arena in Manchester, but we can offer all club members and friends front row seats at The Bear back room in North Moreton! We’ll lay on a buffet at 8pm and undercard boxing starts at 9pm, study the odds, as there may well be a book running!
Should be a fun night and hope to see you down there.

Congratulations to our own Roman Ship who recorded his third
consecutive first round stoppage at XFC:3 on their May 31st show.
Roman was facing a more experienced opponent in Nikky Kent in this
Heavyweight Pro MMA fight, but finished his opponent early with a
straight right-hand strike.

Rumble VII Thanks
Just to say a huge thanks to all who attended or boxed on Rumble VII. We had a fantastic evening of boxing, thrills and spills galore, and what really made the evening special was being supported by The Rifles. It was a privilege to have five members of 4Rifles boxing team in attendance. Three of the five will never box again after the injuries sustained in Afghanistan. One chap, Cpl Ferguson, came to us from Headley Court, where he is recuperating after losing both legs and an eye in a landmine explosion. He was on top form all night, and chatting to many of the crowd. This really brings home what these guys are going through.
We managed to raise over £7,000 on the night, and with other donations and sponsorship we are hoping to get to £10,000. This is a really tall order, but if anyone wants to contribute you can do that, and also read Simon Hills gripping account of facing me in The Ring at http://www.justgiving.com/Rumble-for-The-Rifles
It was a very special night, and thanks once again to you all. Now looking forward to Rumble VIII…!!!

Wallingford Pancake Race 2010
The club once again sponsored and organised the Wallingford Pancake race. We had a great event, the runners were cheered on by a crowd of over 200, and a special mention must go out to club member Viktor Kmec, who won the race in a nail biting final lap, and also managed to raise over £650 in sponsorship.
Overall we raised over £1000 for The Footsteps Foundation and much more for other local charities. If you want to see the BBC report on the event go to the link below, and watch out for that Darth Vader bloke…
