Micky Steeds Next Fight
Mick has a fight lined up for Saturday 28th of February in New Brandenburg, Germany.
It’s a tough fight against a German based Cuban, Yoan Pablo Hernandez. He represented Cuba at the 2004 Olympics and has won 17 of his 18 starts. He has been stopped though, by Wayne Braithwaite, and been down a few times. Mick is training hard, with Aynsley for conditioning, and is sparring here and at The Peacock and is well up for it. If he wins, he will become only the third British boxer to beat a Cuban in a Professional Ring.
I am planning to fly out to the fight on the Saturday morning and return on the Sunday. If anyone fancies coming along give me a shout.

Rumble IV Thanks
Many thanks to all who attended or took Part in Rumble at The Regal IV on the 6th of December. Another sell-out crowd saw a fantastic night of boxing. Special congratulations to Kriss Manclark and Tim Hulse for winning Fight of the Night and Grant Moreton for winning the Best Boxer award. In all we managed to raise over £3000 on the night for The Footsteps Foundation.

Nutrition Seminar
We will be holding a Nutrition Seminar at the club on Saturday 22nd of November at 2pm. Should last about 45 minutes, including Q&A.
The Seminar will be taken by Aysley Fry. Many of you will know Aynsley from his work down at the club, but for those that don’t, Aynsley runs Gecko Fitness (www.geckofitness.com) and has worked with many leading sportsmen in various fields, including helping our own Micky Steeds drop nearly three stone to compete successfully at Cruiserweight instead of Heavyweight. Whether it’s Nutrition for performance, weight loss/gain, Aynsley should have some helpful tips for you.
The Seminar is free of charge and open to all club members, and I thought anyone boxing on the upcoming Rumble may find it particularly useful.

Burton Trip and Rumble IV Coming Up
Well, unfortunately Mick lost his British Title Challenge on points to a very experienced opponent. Great trip up, 51 of us went in the end, just a shame we didn’t get the result. Mick is up-beat though and looking now to get back in the ring before Christmas, and at English Title Challenge early in the new year. He is back at the club full-time from the 20th of October.
Next up is Rumble IV on December the 6th, this is going to be our busiest and best show yet, look out for more announcements soon.

Roman’s Cage Match and Mick’s Cruiserweight Title Challenge
First of all conratulations to Roman, he made his cage debut at an FX3 promotion in Reading on Saturday night. The fight was stopped at 106 seconds after Roman had put his man down with a right hand and then gone for the “ground and pound”, as they put it in Cage Fighting, very impressive.
Next up is Mick, fighting for the vacant British Cruiserweight Title against Rob Norton on Friday the 3rd of October. The fight is going to be at the Meadowside Leisure Centre, Burton-on-Trent. Tickets are £30 Standard and £50 Ringside. We will organise a bus from the club on that day, leaving at 5pm. The fight will be live on Friday Night Fight Night, Sky Sports 1 at 9:30pm.
Let me know if you need tickets.

Mark Roe at the club
From the 8th of September Mickey Steeds will be in training camp for his British Cruiserweight title shot on October the 3rd and will not be doing any more 1-2-1’s until after that. During this 4 week period Mick’s trainer, Mark Roe, will be avaliable for 1-2-1 coaching at the club. Many of you will know Mark from previous visits to the club, and he is a vastly experienced and greatly respected trainer in the world of boxing. A great chance to pick up some tips.

Rumble III Thanks
Many thanks to all who attended or boxed on Rumble III, a fantastic night and great fun. Well done to Dan “Nobby” Nobes and Mark “The Hammer” Hancox for winning the Fight of the Night award, and Costa “The Bear” Sapavolov for winning the Best Boxer Award. Our special guest, former British Heavyweight Champion Julius Francis, boxed a great exhibition with Head Coach John Houston, and we managed to raise over £2,000 for local charities.
Also congratulations to our own Mickey Steeds (pictured) who boxed Radcliffe Green on Friday night, forcing a retirement after the fourth round. Mickey boxes again on July 18th, and has secured a shot at the British Cruiserweight title in September.

Open Day
| Saturday, May 3, 2008 |
On the 3rd of May we will be having an Open Day to celebrate opening the new club extension. This will give us a second Boxing Ring, and improved Cardio and Weights areas. Mickey Steeds will also be joining the club on that date as a full-time Personal Trainer.
The open day will run from 8am to 6pm. From 9am to 1:16pm I will be doing a sponsored Spar-athon. This will involve boxing 100 rounds of 2 minute duration with a 30 second break between each round. We will have a core team of boxers doing the rounds with me, but all club members are welcome to join in, whether you just want to jump in for one round or stay and try and pick me off late!
There will also be a Barbie running, beers, Tea and Coffee etc. and plenty of activities for the kids. We are doing the Open Day in conjunction with South Moreton Pre-School and all proceeds from the day will go to their appeal for funds to build a new play area.
Should be a real fun day out.
