SMBC FOUNDATION

The SMBC Foundation is in place to provide funds for causes close to the club's heart.

£1 from every 1-2-1 Training Session down at the club goes to the Foundation as well as funds raised through our regular boxing shows and other donations.

Our Activities and Causes

Amateur Boxing

South Moreton Boxing Club is affiliating to England Boxing in the 2021/22 Season and we run sessions for people wanting to affiliate to England Boxing at the club 6pm - 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursday (Starting from 18th May). These sessions are free of charge to the boxers, and are funded by the South Moreton Boxing Club Foundation.

Toybank

We started Toybank in 2019 with the intention of collecting presents to be distributed to underprivileged children in Oxfordshire. We collect donations through numerous collection points and, as well as distributing to direct requests from families, we work with the local Foodbanks, Churches and Oxfordshire Social Services to distribute to families in need. In the last two years we have donated over 12,000 presents.

Overseas Sponsorship

We make donations of boxing equipment every year to clubs in Africa where passion for the sport is fantastic but there is very little equipment or facilities.

Donations from Boxing Events

We started holding Whitecollar Boxing events in 2007 and have been holding on average two events a year ever since. Proceeds are donated to local charities, and since 2007 we have donated tens of thousands of pounds.

Inspirational Talks

We have held a number of talks at the club over the years with various speakers, talking about what inspires them and how to deal with challenges. We have often partnered with Wallingford Baptist Church to bring these events to the club.

Mentoring

We have partnered with local agencies and schools many times to provide training and mentoring to pupils and young people who have been in trouble at school or with the authorities. We have also talked at many school assemblies and other events on the best way to overcome challenges in sport and life.

Miscellaneous

We have sponsored, organised and run, in association with Wallingford Town Council, the Wallingford Pancake Race for the last 10 years, engaging local schools and organisations to raise sponsorship money and enjoy the event. We now have dozens of races in a closed off Town Centre every Shrove Tuesday with all local schools in attendance.

We have sponsored schools as far away as London, who have been struggling for resources, and are always open for new ideas of where the SMBC Foundation can help most effectively.
